NACD Commends Proposals in Senate Ranking Member’s Farm Bill Framework, Urges Bipartisan Action to Pass a Final Bill

Washington, D.C. – On Tuesday, Senate Committee on Agriculture Ranking Member John Boozman released a framework outlining Senate Republican farm bill priorities. NACD commends that the framework supports NACD’s top farm bill request by calling for the incorporation of all remaining Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) conservation investments into the conservation title of the bill. The framework also supports NACD priorities to simplify and streamline conservation programs, bolster Natural Resources Conservation Service watershed programs, and incentivize the enrollment of marginal land within the Conservation Reserve Program.

“NACD appreciates that Ranking Member Boozman’s framework calls to integrate all IRA conservation investments into the conservation title, which will allow more producers across the country to adopt effective, locally led conservation practices for decades to come,” said NACD President Kim LaFleur. “We are thrilled that this request has bipartisan support from the leaders of the agriculture committees, but Congress has limited time to take advantage of this huge opportunity to integrate IRA funding. We urge these leaders to work together to pass a final bill this year that includes this proposal and additional priorities supporting our country’s locally led conservation delivery system.”

The release of Ranking Member Boozman’s framework follows the Senate Committee on Agriculture Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow introducing a farm bill framework and the House Committee on Agriculture voting to advance a full farm bill.
